BioStar is a site for asking, answering and discussing bioinformatics questions and issues. We are members of the community and find it very useful. Often questions and answers arise at BioStar that are germane to our readers (end users of genomics resources). Every Thursday we will be highlighting one of those items or discussions here in this thread. You can ask questions in this thread, or you can always join in at BioStar.
This week’s highlighted question is about resources for regulation of transcription by RNAs. I’ve become more interested in this since finding some interesting stuff in the ENCODE data on lncRNAs. The answers offer some guidance on potentially helpful resources.
I would like to know whether somebody knows about a database gathering information about gene transcriptional regulation through RNAs. For instance, some long non-coding RNAs regulate the transcription of genes (activation or silencing), the same can occur using small non-coding RNAs like microRNAs. I am not aware of such a parsable resource and would be very thankful to get some pointers.
