What’s the answer? (influential papers 2011)

BioStar is a site for asking, answering and discussing bioinformatics questions. We are members of the community and find it very useful. Often questions and answers arise at BioStar that are germane to our readers (end users of genomics resources). Every Thursday we will be highlighting one of those questions and answers here in this thread. You can ask questions in this thread, or you can always join in at BioStar.

This week’s highlighted question became a “community wiki” because there’s not a single right answer. But I thought it was an interesting look at the papers that different members of the community found important for their work this year.

What are the most influential bioinformatics/computational biology papers of 2011?

Since the year is coming to an end, this may be a good time to check out the best of 2011. I would prefer to not include reviews and the like in this.

My answer scored pretty well–I said the Ion Torrent paper, so I think others found it to be a worthwhile paper for the discussion. But go check out all of the answers at BioStar.
